【Five spice beef】
by MaomaoMom
I made this five spice beef for dinner. Maomao loved it. Meat is tender and full of flavour.
Prepare time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 1.5 hours
Stand time: 30 minutes
Level: Easy
Serves: 8 servings
Ingredients:
1) 850g beef shank or beef stew or flank;
2) 1.5 tbsp olive oil, 2 green onion chopped to 2-inch length, 8 g sliced fresh ginger, 5-6 cloves of garlic crushed, 1 anise star, ½ tsp Chinese five spice;
3) 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine, 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tbsp dark soy sauce, 1/4 tsp sugar, 1/3 tsp salt, 1.5 cups water.
Directions:
1: Beef cut into 2 cm cubes and soak in cold water for 30 minutes (Picture 1) and then drain. Place a non-stick sauté pan on high heat, add 1.5 tbsp olive oil and beef cubes (Picture 2). Sauté for a few minutes until water evaporates and beef turns brown (Picture 3).
2: Add all the rest ingredients of Ingredient 2) (Picture 4) and sauté for about 30 seconds. Add all ingredients of Ingredient 3) (Picture 5) and bring to boil.
3: Cover with the lid and reduce to low heat and simmer for 1.5 hours, stir occasionally. On medium-high heat, open lid (Picture 5) and reduce the sauce to ¼.
4: Transfer the five spice beef into to a serving bowl, serve immediately over steamed rice. Yummy!!
I really like your writing style, good info, thank you for posting :D. “He wrapped himself in quotations- as a beggar would enfold himself in the purple of Emperors.” by Rudyard Kipling.
Some genuinely nice and utilitarian information on this web site, too I conceive the style has wonderful features.
I have not checked in here for some time because I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are great quality so I guess I’ll add you back to my everyday bloglist. You deserve it my friend 🙂
You are my intake, I have few web logs and occasionally run out from post :). “‘Tis the most tender part of love, each other to forgive.” by John Sheffield.
