【Poached egg in sweet fermented rice】
Most Chinese people love sweet fermented rice, this morning I made poached egg in this sweet fermented rice soup as a part of breakfast. We all loved it.
Prepare time: 1 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Serves: 3 servings
1. 2 cups sweet fermented rice, 1 cup cold water;
2. 3 large eggs;
3. 1.5 tbsp brown sugar;
4. 1 tsp dried osmanthus flower or 1 tbsp osmanthus flower sauce.
1: A medium saucepan with 2 cups fermented rice and 1 cup water (Picture 1), bring to a boil on high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, crack the eggs and drop whole eggs in without the shells (Picture 2).
2: Cover with lid and simmer for 4 minutes.
3: Open the lid, add 1.5 tbsp brown sugar and 1 tsp dried osmanthus flower or 1 tbsp osmanthus flower sauce (Picture 3). Cover with lid and turn off heat and let it stand for 2 minutes. The egg yolk would be still soft.
4: Transfer to 3 serving bowls and serve warm.
