Started to prepare dinner late on Sunday afternoon and my son Maomao loves some meat for dinner. Quickly taking out my  favorite new InstantPot 7-in-1 pressure cooker and in just 50 minutes, this lovely dish was ready. Maomao had a quite a few pieces of braised pork ribs, finger licking good en!

Serves: 6 servings

Ingredients:

1) 1000g spareribs;
2) 1 tbsp olive oil, 3-4 slices of fresh ginger, 1 green onion rinsed and chopped into 2 inches long pieces, 1 star anise, 2 cloves;
5) 1.5 tbsp anka sauce or 1.5 tsp red yeast rice;
4) 1 tbsp cooking wine, 1.5 tbsp premium dark soy sauce, 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tbsp premium light soy sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1.5 tbsps honey, 4 tbsp water;

Directions:

1: Wash the ribs with warm water and cut between bones into small pieces. Soak ribs in boiling water for 2 minutes (Picture 1), drain, rinse and drain.
2: Add 1 tbsp oil to InstantPot pressure cooker , select “Saute” function “High” and sauté green onion, ginger, anise and cloves (Picture 2) for 1 minute. Then add anka sauce or red yeast rice and ribs, stir and cook for 2 minutes (Picture 3).

3: Add cooking wine and stir a few times. All all ingredients of Ingredient 4) (Picture 4), cover the lid and place the pressure valve to “Seal” position. Press “Manual” button and set 35 minutes of cooking time. (Picture 5).
4: When the program is done, wait another 5 minutes. Slowly release the pressure then open the lid (Picture 6). Select “Sauté” and set temperature to “high”, stir occasionally until the sauce is reduced to 1/4.
5: Place the cooked meat into to a serving bowl, serve immediately over rice. Yummy!!

    毛毛妈,你好, 我是在美国的华人,加拿大的朋友介绍了你的网站,非常实用,今天看到这个食谱,不知道’ premium light soy sauce” light soy sauce’ 和我买的李锦记 的‘soy sauce’ 有什么区别,可以用后者代替前2个吗? 那个老抽也是同样的问题。 谢谢你!

    谢谢答复。我在你的常用调料里面看到, kikkaman soy sauce 还有 KOONCHUN 双老头抽,但是不知道PREMIUM light soy sauce 和 light soy sauce 你是用哪个牌子?再次感谢!

    Red Yeast Rice is found at health food stores and is considered in Chinese traditonal medicine. I have been given it by my older sister who is well versed in natural and homeopathic medicines.
    Do you include it for health reasons or is there a flavor or color to it that makes the recipe authentic in that way? Or both?
